1 MONTH PRIOR TO MOVING
• Go through your home and decide what you want in your new home so you don't pay to move things you no longer want.
• Have a garage sale or do a dump run to minimize volume on moving day.
• You can call Good Will (or organizations like Deseret Industries, St. Vincent de Paul, Arc) and they will actually pick up furniture for free; remember Goodwill will only accept furniture that is not ripped or badly stained.
• Start scouting for boxes and used packing materials if you are doing your own packing or take advantage of All Star's experienced packing crews. We also sell used boxes when in stock.
TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO MOVING
• Set up cable and internet at your new location before moving day if possible to avoid down time.
• If you are packing your own boxes begin by packing basement and garage areas that are less used. These areas tend to be overlooked and end up being last minute nightmares on moving day.
• Decide if and how your outside plants and furniture will be moved. If large planters will be moving then don't water them for at least 1 week prior to moving. Remember for interstate moves that many states don't allow plants to cross state lines.
• Transfer medical and school records and notify post office of changes.
• Begin to dispose of unwanted paint and cleaning fluids at proper disposal sites.
• Remember that All Star can not move flammables, propane tanks, portable gas cans etc.
THE WEEK OF YOUR MOVE
• Confirm with All Star the time and date and payment arrangment.
• Check with homeowners insurance to see if your move is covered and choose a valuation level with All Star that will cover your furniture during transit.
• Make sure that all boxes are closed and taped shut.
• Arrange for wardrobes to be supplied for your move for the clothes you want to keep hanging.
• Decide if any artwork or electronics etc. will require special packaging and alert All Star so that we can custom pack or crate them.
• Use up perishable food so you don't have to move it. Start your new home with a clean freezer.
