Salt Lake City is a relatively safe city, however low-income areas of the city have a reputation for crime and fueling most violent crime and assaults. Not surprisingly, in 2008, Salt Lake City Police reported 1,564 car prowls. They also reported 440 auto thefts, 491 burglaries, and 195 aggravated assaults."
