All Star Transfer is a company with a story. We got our start back in 1994, when founder Laron Williams first started operating his moving company from Mercer Island, WA. Like many great things, we had humble beginnings. Laron started with a tiny office and two trucks that he parked in the local Block Buster Video’s parking lot. Nonetheless, our business grew quickly. Laron made a name for himself by completing moves in half the time it took other moving companies. By combining quick service with stellar customer service skills, Laron started to gain some serious traction against his larger competitors. Despite his success, however, Laron encountered difficulties. For example, when Laron wanted to expand his business beyond Mercer Island and Edmonds, he discovered he needed a state-issued permit. When Laron applied for a permit in 1996, however, Washington State hadn’t issued a new permit for almost 30 years. Consequently, established, permitted movers had a state protected monopoly. But Laron didn’t let that stand in his way. After a long battle with the state, All Star Transfer received the first new permit to move furniture in Washington State since 1959. Furthermore, All Star’s lobbying and public awareness campaign brought an end to state price fixing. Thanks to us, movers can now adjust their prices within 15% of the state’s fixed price. Now that’s a Seattle story anyone can get behind.
